Lower Chitral records surge in National and International tourism in 2025

CHITRAL: Lower Chitral witnessed a significant rise in national and international tourism during 2025, emerging as one of Pakistan’s most attractive cultural and scenic destinations, according to figures released by the District Lower Chitral Police.

Official statistics show that a total of 2,204 foreign tourists visited the district during the year, while an impressive 514,630 domestic tourists explored the region, reflecting growing confidence in security arrangements and increased global interest in Chitral’s unique heritage.

Foreign visitors participated in several major cultural and sporting events throughout the year. The Kalash Uchaw Festival attracted 333 international guests, while 330 foreigners attended the Kalash Joshi Festival. The Kalash Phoo Festival was witnessed by 246 foreign tourists, and 99 visitors joined the winter Chowmus Festival.

The internationally renowned Shandur Polo Festival 2025 drew 247 foreign spectators, while 150 international tourists attended the Qaqlasht Festival. In addition, 799 foreign travelers visited Lower Chitral for general sightseeing and exploration of its natural attractions.

District Police Officer Lower Chitral Riffat Ullah Khan (PSP) welcomed tourists from across the world and reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to providing a safe and hospitable environment. He stated that the Foreign Registration Office (FRO) Lower Chitral Police remains fully operational to facilitate international visitors and ensure smooth travel arrangements.

The District Lower Chitral Police maintained comprehensive security measures throughout the year, ensuring the safety of tourists and contributing to the promotion of the region’s rich culture, traditions, and natural beauty.

Officials said the remarkable increase in tourist arrivals highlights Lower Chitral’s rising profile as a must-visit destination for both domestic and international travelers.
