
CHITRAL: The world-renowned Shandur Polo Festival concluded on a high note at the highest natural polo ground in the world, with Chitral A team claiming a thrilling victory over arch-rivals Gilgit A in the final match. The festival, held from June 20, attracted thousands of national and international tourists who gathered to witness the traditional freestyle polo spectacle.
Organized by the Tourism Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the support of the district administrations of Lower and Upper Chitral, the event was marked by vibrant cultural performances, local cuisine, and breathtaking views of the Shandur Pass.
Chitral Scouts and Frontier Corps (North) played a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth execution and security of the festival.
The final match saw a fierce contest, with Chitral A securing a 9–7 victory. Star player Izhar Ali Khan dominated the field with an impressive 7 goals and was named Man of the Tournament. With this win, Chitral A extended its longstanding unbeaten streak, once again proving its dominance in freestyle polo.
The festival not only showcased the unique heritage of mountain polo but also reaffirmed Chitral’s status as a key destination for adventure tourism in Pakistan.
