Pakistani Army Chief meets Iranian Foreign Minister to discuss regional security and bilateral cooperation

RAWALPINDI: Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, met with General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), at the General Headquarters (GHQ) today.

During the meeting, both sides held constructive discussions on the prevailing geo-strategic environment, with a special focus on the shared security challenges faced by Pakistan and Iran. The Pak-Iran border security mechanism was also reviewed, aiming to enhance bilateral coordination and cooperation.

General Munir emphasized the strong and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Iran, grounded in a shared history, cultural bonds, and religious affinity. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation with its western neighbor.

The Iranian Foreign Minister acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in promoting peace and stability in the region and expressed appreciation for its continued role in fostering regional harmony.

Both parties agreed to maintain active engagement and work collaboratively towards positive outcomes on regional issues.
