CHITRAL: After spending more than a month away from their homes, residents of the border town Arandu who had temporarily relocated to Drosh and other areas have finally returned.
Following the recent ceasefire, made possible through the efforts of local elders, displaced families began moving back to their native villages.
Upon their arrival in Arandu, the returning residents received a warm welcome from the Chitral Scouts. On this occasion, the local commander of Chitral Scouts, Lieutenant Colonel Mudassir, accompanied by other officers, visited the area, met with residents, and reviewed various locations, including the local bazar.
The scenes of return were deeply emotional. Overjoyed locals chanted slogans such as “Pakistan Zindabad,” “Long Live Pakistan Army,” and “Long Live Chitral Scouts.” Citizens embraced military officers and personnel, presenting them with flower garlands as a gesture of gratitude and happiness.
Lieutenant Colonel Mudassir, Commander of Chitral Scouts 141 Wing, assured the people that the Armed Forces of Pakistan would not hesitate to make any sacrifice for the defense of the country and would not allow any force to act against Pakistan’s soil or its brave citizens. He also praised the sacrifices and patriotism of the local population in strong terms.
Residents of the area stated that the support extended by the Pakistan Army and Chitral Scouts during difficult times has further strengthened mutual trust and bonds. The restoration of peace in Arandu is being seen as a promising sign for a brighter future for the region.
It is worth mentioning that after more than a month of conflict, a jirga was convened last week through the efforts of local elders, which ultimately led to an agreement on a ceasefire in the border area. Since then, the ceasefire has been holding in this sector.
