Afghan refugees start returning from Chitral, Depart for homeland

CHITRAL: Following the government’s decision and announced deadline regarding Afghan refugees, families who had been residing in Chitral for decades have now begun their journey back to their homeland.

According to details, during the past two days, six to seven families departed through the Lowari Tunnel en route to Torkham. The district administration has arranged dignified repatriation by providing transport, food and water during the journey, and medical assistance where needed.

Locals described the departure as deeply emotional, noting that after living together for decades, the sudden separation has left both Afghan families and Chitral residents saddened.

Sources confirm that more Afghan families will be returning to their homeland from Chitral in the coming days.
