Local climbers of Shabdaraz group conquer 6,065m Thallo Zom Peak in Chitral’s rugged highlands

CHITRAL: A local mountaineering team, the Shabdaraz Group, has successfully scaled Thallo Zom peak, a 6,065-meter-high peak in the remote Hindu Raj range of Chitral.

Located near the borders of Upper Dir, Swat, and Gilgit-Baltistan, Thallo Zom is known for its rugged terrain, difficult access, and breathtaking views. The mountain was first climbed in 1975 by a Japanese expedition, and since then, only a few teams have attempted to reach its summit.

The recent achievement by the Shabdaraz Group has been widely praised by local residents and adventure enthusiasts. Many have called it a proud moment for Chitral, as it highlights the talent and determination of local climbers.

Mountaineering experts say the successful ascent not only adds to the region’s adventure tourism potential but also draws attention to the lesser-known peaks of the Hindu Raj range, which remain largely unexplored.
