Federal Government approves major project for Chitral; PKR 75 Billion allocated for Mastuj–Broghil road

CHITRAL: Upper Chitral’s long-awaited dream moves towards reality as the NHA will construct the Mastuj–Broghil Road

Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has formally approved a major road infrastructure project in Upper Chitral, paving the way for the construction of the Mastuj–Broghil Road, former Member of the National Assembly from Chitral and senior Pakistan Muslim League leader Shahzada Iftikharuddin has said.

According to Ex-MNA and PMLN leader Shahzada Iftikharuddin, an amount of Rs75 billion has been allocated for the construction of a 157-kilometre paved road from Mastuj to Broghil and towards the Wakhan border. The project is expected to provide improved and reliable transportation facilities to Mastuj, Yarkhun, Broghil and areas extending towards Wakhan, ushering in a new era of development in the region.

The Mastuj–Broghil Road project holds considerable international significance, as the route could provide a shorter and more convenient connection to Tajikistan and other Central Asian countries through the Wakhan Corridor.

Upon completion, the road could emerge as a new trade corridor for Pakistan, opening up fresh opportunities for economic growth not only in Chitral but also across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The road is expected to strengthen connectivity between Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Central Asia through Tajikistan.

It could also provide Pakistan with an important gateway to future trade and commercial activities in the Wakhan region, potentially transforming the economic prospects of Upper Chitral and surrounding areas.
