Former Afghan VP claims $45 million in fresh currency secretly delivered to Taliban authorities

ISLAMABAD: A prominent Afghan political leader and former Vice President, Amrullah Saleh, has revealed that the United States has recently provided USD 45 million to the Taliban rulers of Afghanistan.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Amrullah Saleh claimed that newly printed U.S. currency notes were delivered to Afghanistan in boxes via a special chartered flight arranged by the United States.

He further stated that the aircraft landed at Kabul Airport in the early hours of Monday, December 8, under strict security arrangements.

According to Saleh, the aircraft had departed from a Gulf country before arriving in Afghanistan.

Amrullah Saleh added that the chartered aircraft belongs to a Kyrgyzstan-registered company, “Moalem Aviation,” which, he said, is responsible for transporting U.S. dollars to Afghanistan and has allocated three Airbus aircraft specifically for this purpose.

In a series of posts, citing the Afghanistan International Bank, Saleh further claimed that the United States has so far provided billions of dollars to the Afghan Taliban government.
