U.S. reaffirms Trump’s willingness to help resolve Kashmir dispute

ISLAMABAD:  The U.S. Department of State on Wednesday reaffirmed President Donald Trump’s willingness to engage on the Kashmir dispute, emphasizing his commitment to addressing long-standing regional conflicts.

The statement follows Trump’s earlier offer to mediate the Kashmir issue after successfully brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan in the wake of their most serious military standoff in decades. In a message praising both nations for achieving peace, Trump remarked, “I will work with both of you to see if, after a thousand years, a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir.”

Responding to questions during a White House press briefing, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce noted, “While I can’t speak to his plans, the world knows his nature… and the White House will have plenty to say about the matter.”

Bruce added that President Trump has a proven track record of bringing unlikely parties to the negotiation table and expressed hope that a resolution on Kashmir could also be possible under his engagement.
