RAWALPINDI: Security forces conducted a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province on 17 and 18 May 2025, resulting in the elimination of nine militants affiliated with the banned outfit, Fitna Al Khawarij, reportedly acting as Indian proxies.
In the Lakki Marwat District, security forces launched a successful operation targeting a militant hideout. Five militants were killed during the engagement after troops effectively engaged the location based on precise intelligence.
A second operation carried out in the Bannu District led to the neutralization of two more militants associated with the same group.
In a separate incident in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan District, militants ambushed a security forces convoy. Troops responded swiftly, killing two attackers. However, during the intense exchange of fire, two soldiers — Sepoy Farhad Ali Turi (29), a resident of District Kurram, and Lance Naik Sabir Afridi (32), from District Kohat — embraced martyrdom while fighting courageously.
Sanitization operations are ongoing in the affected areas to ensure the complete elimination of any remaining militant elements. The Pakistan Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating terrorism and stated that the sacrifices of the nation’s soldiers only strengthen their resolve to defend the country against all threats.
