U.S. delegation meets Pakistan Army Chief to discuss mineral investment and bilateral cooperation

ISLAMABAD: high-level delegation from the United States, headed by Mr. Eric Meyer, Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, met with General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), at General Headquarters today.

The meeting followed the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum, a landmark event aimed at unlocking the country’s vast mineral potential. The U.S. delegation praised the initiative, expressing confidence in Pakistan’s policy framework to develop its untapped mineral resources through mutually beneficial partnerships.

Highlighting the U.S. administration’s focus on critical minerals, Mr. Meyer reaffirmed that collaboration with Pakistan in this area is a key mutual interest. He also noted the country’s improving investment environment as a positive signal for future engagement.

The discussion also covered regional security dynamics and global developments, allowing both sides to exchange perspectives. Emphasizing the importance of comprehensive bilateral cooperation, the two parties agreed on expanding avenues for business-to-business (B2B) engagement alongside existing government-to-government (G2G) and people-to-people (P2P) partnerships.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the current trajectory of bilateral relations and reiterated their commitment to strengthening ties across multiple domains.
