Tourism board approves Madaklasht as integrated tourism zone

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Tourism Strategy Board has accorded approval to declare Madaklasht as the integrated tourism zone (ITZ) along with Ghanool (Mansehra) and Mankyal (Swat).

The approval was accorded in the first meeting of the board held on Tuesday with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair. The matter would now be presented before the provincial cabinet for final approval.

Briefing the meeting about the integrated tourism zones, officials said Ghanol Integrated Tourism Zone would consist of 489 kanals and Mankyal and Madaklasht would spread over 450 kanals and 500 Kanals, respectively.

It was stated that section 4 had been imposed on land identified for the newly-approved integrated tourism zones and land acquisition process had been also started.

The authorities said suitable site had also been identified for another integrated tourism zone in Thandiani of Abbottabad, adding after codal formalities this site would also be declared as the integrated tourism zone.

The participants were informed that master plans of the zones had been prepared, and in the next phase management plans would be prepared for it.

The chief minister directed the quarters concerned to ensure preparation of regulations for the ITZs within the next two months and submit for approval. He further directed them to ensure protection of natural environment, including forests and rivers, adding that management plan for ITZs be completed as soon as possible.
