CHITRAL: In a landmark event, Lower Chitral Levies held a special Darbar at the historic Governor Cottage, where Commandant Chitral Levies and Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral, Hashim Azim, addressed the personnel and listened to their concerns.
Donning the Levies uniform and decorated with the rank of “Colonel” — a first in the history of Chitral Levies — Commandant Hashim Azim praised the force for its unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and order in the district. He described the Levies as “a disciplined, respectable force emerging as a backbone of local law enforcement and a trusted asset of the district administration.”
Speaking to the assembled force, the Commandant paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Levies, emphasizing that their sacrifices remain etched in the collective memory of Chitral. “Their role in safeguarding public life and property is a legacy we are committed to honor,” he stated.
During the open forum, Levies personnel candidly raised issues related to transfers, facilities, and administrative challenges. The Commandant attentively listened and assured prompt action, pledging to address their problems on a priority basis.
He urged the personnel to serve with “honesty, duty-consciousness, and a spirit of public service,” adding that state institutions exist to serve the people. He emphasized the importance of courteous conduct, professionalism, and close coordination with line departments.
Commandant Azim expressed confidence that the Lower Chitral Levies would soon be recognized as a model force for other districts. Also present was the Assistant Commissioner, who appeared in Levies uniform with a Lieutenant Colonel’s insignia, a gesture that further boosted the morale of the troops.
The presence of both Commandant and Deputy Commandant in Levies attire symbolized solidarity and mutual respect between the administration and the force, marking a new chapter in Chitral Levies’ evolution.
